The duties of the Vice President for Research and Transfer revolve around the conceptual design and implementation of our University's research strategy. Research is to be expanded as part of our University's distinctly visible profile and the manifold potentials of knowledge and technology transfer are to be increasingly deployed.

One of the strategy's central elements is support for research inside the University, which is provided at two levels: on the one hand, existing excellent research activities are brought together and funded within the framework of our University's research focuses so as to sustainably position the research area in international competition; on the other hand, newly developing research topics with high innovation potentials are to be supported inside our University in order to follow the changes in the research landscape and to enable our University to be steered in this direction in the long term.

Through the transfer of technology and knowledge, our University, which acts as an innovation engine, makes a major contribution to this region and beyond. Our University is planning to engage in this important activity by offering additional areas of transfer alongside its very successful company founding service, such as further education or counselling and engineering services. It is important to create appropriate structural and organisational framework conditions for this purpose.

The cross-university Commission for Research in the Office of the President gives advice to the Heads of the University on issues of research and transfer, serves as an information platform and implements and advances the research strategy with respect to particular projects.
